Our StructureWe encourage all groups to be taught by well grounded Christian communicators and to meet outside of the church and school grounds. Classes work best as a community activity and outreach, not an extension of one youth group alone, but rather a mix of churches, schools, backgrounds, races, genders, believers, seekers and anything in between. We suggest that classes begin in January and continue through the end of April. This is the recommended time because it is the time when high school seniors are becoming focused toward college or the workforce and thinking about what it will be like to leave home. As Anchorsaway expands, groups are finding other times that work best for them, such as starting summer groups to educate students before they leave or when they are home from college. The best time to hold an Anchorsaway group is when students are available to come! Small groups are an essential part of the evening. Leaders will meet with a small group of students to unpack the night's lesson, contact them during the week, and continue to stay in contact with them throughout the their college experience. |
